1957
Lima was set up by the Belgian Pierre Gevaert, who through his father came into contact with the founder of macrobiotics, Georges Ohsawa. Pierre Gevaert experienced the many advantages of the macrobiotic nutritional principles and wanted to share these with others. It started with the sale of a few Japanese products in Sint-Martens-Latem and Lima, named after Mrs. Lima Oshawa, was born...
   
1960-1990
With a good deal of idealism and inspiration, Lima evolved into one of the leading producers of natural foods in Europe.
   
1989
Euronature, a French association of quality food producers, takes the reins of Lima.
   
1995
Philippe Woitrin, director of Lima for 5 years, creates the holding company, La Saga, with the intention of acquiring Euronature's Belgian companies: Lima, Nonkels and Bio-Service.
   
1996
Lima's management becomes fully Belgian once again.
   
2001
The Hain Celestial Group, market leader in America in the natural foods sector, expands in Europe with the takeover of Lima.
   
2002
The brands Rice Dream, Soy Dream and Terra are launched in Europe.
   
2003
Grains Noirs, market leader in Belgium in the catering of business lunches, appetisers, sandwiches etc. is acquired by the Hain Celestial Group.
   
2004
Ambitious Hain Celestial Europe strengthens its position in the non-dairy category (or vegetable-based beverages) with the takeover of Natumi, a producer in Germany.
   
2005
Celestial Seasonings is introduced in Europe.
   

Today Hain Celestial Europe is further developing its European brand portfolio of natural and organic foods and personal care products.
